Title: Staggered Entry and Unemployment Durations - An Application to German Data

Abstract: In this paper we consider the impact of individual economic and
demographic characteristics on the distribution of single spell unemployment
durations in West Germany utilizing data from the German Socio Economic
Panel (Sozio-ökonomisches Panel, SEP). Simultaneously we provide some
evidence on the robustness of parameter estimates with respect to
uncertainty about inflow dates given that only entry intervals are known
instead of the precise start dates of the spells. The approach is fully
parametric; as population distribution the Weibull and the Log logistic
distributions are considered.
